Symptoms of FAS
The symptoms of FAS are different in each child but a few consistent symptoms with hold. The growth, performance, intelligence, head and face, skeleton and heart lack in maturity. The growth of the child is stunted and they may way less than a normal baby at birth. They cannot perform certain tasks as directed. As the FAS child grows older they may become hyperactive. They may also have limited use of motor skills. They have an IQ of 60 or lower. A child at this IQ level is considered to be mentally retarded in the U.S. The head of the child may be smaller than a normal child due to the lack of brain growth. The joints of a child with FAS may not work as they should. As for the heart, the child may be born with a heart murmur or they may be born with a hole beetween the upper and lower chambers of the heart.
